Daisy: Childhood, innocence

In many folklore traditions including Norse mythology, Celtic, and ancient Roman, the daisy has come to represent childhood, innocence and purity. Its meaning inspired authors and poets throughout history. For example, Shakespeare used a daisy chain in Hamlet to portray Ophelia’s innocence.

This print is part of the Language of Flowers Series:
The idea of flowers with meanings started in the Victorian era when proper etiquette dictated it was uncouth to blatantly express your true emotions. I was instantly intrigued and enamored with the idea of flowers holding secret meanings. It felt magical and special. Most visual representations lean Victorian in aesthetic, but I was excited to bring this concept to life in a modern yet nostalgic way.
